New Law from the CSPIA

Please read the following
This is very important to my business and continuing to sell & make handmade baby products

On Feb 10th a new law from the CSPIA ( Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) goes into effect. This law will help reduce the amount of lead in products intended to be used by those 12 years of age and under so that what happened a few years ago with lead in paint doesn't happen again. What it requires is that each item manufactured be put through rigorous testing which costs $400 PER item (if 500 completely identical toy fire trucks are made they only have to test 1, if 500 1 of a kind blankets are made each one must be tested even if the materials in the product have already been tested). The creators of this law did not keep in mind the effect this would have on the small independent business such as myself and many others. Because of the amount it would cost to test each our items most of us are being forced to go out of business. Don't get me wrong, this is a very important law, we are just asking that it be looked at more closely. Our economy is already in troubled waters, why make it even worse?

You are probably asking yourself, "What can I do to help?" or maybe even, "What can I do to save my business?". This link right here, http://shalomscottagehome.com/Assets/Special%20Graphics/save%20handmade_book.pdf, will take you to a SLEW of information and places where you can let your voice be heard. It is truly important that we all do what we can to amend this new law.

Please feel free to pass this email along to EVERYONE you know.

I've done my part, will you do yours?

All'Aboard! Boutique will be offering 25% off all baby goods
I can't afford to get the products in store tested.
Most of products have been made by small family businesses...I hope to continue selling & making baby items... I also hope that enough people petition the law because it will be putting a lot of people out of business
